The Youth Development Cause’s MTN Scholarship program attempts to identify and honor deserving, high-achieving students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions each year.
The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship, now in its 12th year, is available to qualified 300-level students enrolled in Nigerian public tertiary institutions who are majoring in science and technology (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). If they retain the necessary grades, 300 successful students will get scholarships worth N200,000.00 per year till graduation. In its tenth year, the MTN Scholarship for Blind Students is intended for qualified blind students enrolled in any programme at the 200-level at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). If they retain the necessary grades, 60 successful blind students will receive scholarships worth N200,000.00 per year till graduation.
The newest MTN Scholarship is the Top 10 UTME Scholarship, which started in 2020. The top 10 UTME scorers, as reported by JAMB, are automatically eligible for the top 10 UTME scholarships each year. If the chosen candidates maintain the required grades from their 100 level until graduation, they would get scholarships totaling N200,000.00. The Top 10 UTME Scholarship is given out regardless of the successful individuals’ chosen academic field or Nigerian tertiary institution (public or private).
It is noteworthy that 4,212 students have received scholarships totaling over N3 billion from the MTN Foundation since its founding. Each scholar participates in the MTNF Skill Up Training after graduation to guarantee they are prepared to compete and enhance the Nigerian labor market Additionally, they learn about other chances for training and certification, such PMI (Project Management Institute).
